A Legacy Of Compassion And Excellence

Lakeshore Woods Senior Living was founded with a mission to provide seniors with exceptional care, dignity, and a true sense of belonging.

In the early 1990s, registered nurse Mary Barss and her husband, an orthopedic surgeon, opened the first 20-unit adult foster care home. Their commitment to compassionate care led to growth, including a second building in 1996.

LakeShore Woods Seniors’ 20+ Years Heartwarming Journey

Over the years, the Barss family built a caring culture that helped Lakeshore Woods grow and evolve. In 2018, the community expanded again with a new building featuring 36 modern apartments for Assisted Living and Memory Care.

Today, Lakeshore Woods provides personalized 24/7 care, strong staff-to-resident ratios, and a dedicated team many with 10, 15, or 20+ years of service who treat residents like family.

Located on a peaceful 7-acre campus in Fort Gratiot, Michigan, Lakeshore Woods offers private-pay, non-Medicaid, and non-Medicare senior living with affordable rates and exceptional value. From scratch-prepared meals with local Michigan superfoods to engaging activities, residents are supported in living fully and joyfully.

Lakeshore Woods Seniors Vision For Enriching Seniors Living
