Our operational and working philosophy is the base of every interaction, policy, and care plan. It’s what defines the Lakeshore Woods experience for both our residents and our staff working with us. Joining our team means that you are committing to the following principles and will be obliged to fulfill them:
1. Person-Centered Care: We prioritize the needs of every individual related to our team and take care of the individual needs, preferences, and gear the life story of each resident so they feel heard and protected. And for this approach our staff needs to be exceptional listeners and flexible caregivers who prioritize the resident and have empathy with them, ensuring that care plans are perfect to the resident .
2. Dignity and Respect: Every resident is a unique individual with a lifetime of experience every individual differs from the other . We are consistent in our commitment to preserving their dignity and treating them with the foremost respect, by fostering an environment where they feel valued, heard and independent, while not considering their care needs.
3. Teamwork and Collaboration: Senior care is a collaborative element. From the kitchen staff to the nursing team, and from administrative support to activity directors, every role is interconnected i.e every individual defines the other one and that every single role is vital. We foster an environment where interconnected teams communicate openly, share knowledge, and work in concert to achieve the best resident outcomes.
4. Continuous Improvement: The field of senior living and healthcare is constantly changing with time. We are honored for the training, professional development of our staff and the use of best practices within the workplace. We encourage all employees to come up with innovative and creative ideas that can enhance the resident experience or improve the streamline of our operations. Every staff member is made to believe that they are heard and valued.
5. Community Connection: We are deeply connected in the Michigan community we serve. Our facility is designed in a way to be a hub of connection, not isolation so that no one feels anxious considering it. We encourage our staff and other members to interact with local organizations, host and attend community events, and help residents maintain their ties and bonds to the outside world. Thus they never feel themselves alone.
We firmly believe in promotions. Because promotion encourages one to work even more hard. Many of our current supervisors, directors, and unit managers began their careers here as CNAs or caregivers or now at bigger positions. We offer clear pathways and chances for career growth and promotion opportunities:
1. Tuition Reimbursement: We provide financial aid and assistance for employees pursuing degrees or certifications in nursing, healthcare administration, social work, or related fields. This act keeps them motivated.
2. Internal Certifications: We provide opportunities to our staff to specialize in various areas such as wound care, IV therapy (for nurses), therapeutic recreation, or quality assurance.
3. Cross-Training: We also introduce programs that allow employees to gain experience in different departments (e.g., a CNA spending time with the Activities team) to extend their understanding of the community’s operations.
4. Management Training Tracks: We also design dedicated programs designed to equip aspiring and hardworking leaders with the essential skills in budgeting, regulatory compliance, conflict resolution, team management and many other skills.
